Feels Like Home
A new way to give back to families in your Palm Beach County community
In December 2016, Adopt-A-Family launched “Feels Like Home,” a community engagement series with a goal of providing a welcoming environment to formerly homeless families transitioning to a new apartment to call home.
Each family, and specifically, their children, creates a wish list of toys, items, and household amenities that will make their new apartment feel like home. For many families, the opportunity to move-in to an Adopt-A-Family program is their first experience of stability, safety, and security in quite some time. Each Feels Like Home volunteer team purchases wish list items and furnishes a family’s future apartment before they move-in.
Wish List items often include the following (not to exceed a total of $200)
-
-
-
- Posters (depending on the boys/girls respective interests)
- Stuffed animals
- Themed pillows/bedding
- Books/toys
- Decorative desk lamps/themed area rug
- Bookshelf
- Kitchen amenities
